Dr. Angara earned his doctorate (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in
the United Kingdom. He underwent postdoctoral training at the prestigious Yale University
School of Medicine and Weill Cornell School of Medicine. Dr. Angara is currently an Assistant
Professor at the Department of Norton Thoracic Institute, St. Joseph Hospital and Medical
Center, Creighton University. His lab research focuses on molecular and cellular mechanisms of
lung injury, repair and fibrosis, with a particular focus on alveolar epithelial cell-state control,
epithelial stress, senescence, inflammation, and IGF signaling. Dr. Angara has authored
publications in lung injury, fibrosis, transplantation, and tissue repair biology, and he currently
serves in editorial and reviewer roles for several lung-specific journals
